Chasing Mirrors is a three year participatory arts project working with contemporary visual artists and young people from the NPG's community partners responding to the Gallery’s Collection through dialogue, creative conversations and cultural exchange and developed their own collaborative creative response to issues around representation and Arabic cultural heritage. Athier was the chosen artist for 2011. A co-created exhibition by Athier and the NPG was at the Gallery October 2011.The work features a large scale triptych in conversation with the work created by the students. these were interlinked with a 6 x 11 metre floor vinyl of geometric forms with extracts of their quotes.As well as the exhibition, Chasing Mirrors formed an extensive three month program of museum visits, artist talks, educational and community workshops.
